305 4bbl?

I bought a 1984 Cutlass with a 305 4bbl. My question is did these motors come with the 4bbl from factory?....if they did not, I would assume it is a 350?...I guess the Vin would tell me....

Thanks,
Ted

Unless I'm mistaken, the 305s and 307s were available with 4bbl (Rochester Quadra-Jet ?) carbs. As for the VIN/Eng descriptor; unless I'm mistaken, the 8th digit should be an H if it's a 305.

My buddy has an ´84 Delta with the 307. It came with a 4 barrel Qjet.
All the Delta's and Caprice's from the 80's I have seen had a 4 barrel.

I don't believe Olds ever used the 305 which was a Chevy engine. It should be a 307.

Yup, many, if not all, Canadian cars got the 305. Also the 305 was used in the H-special Starfires.

The 305 "Type C" motor was also factory installed in the 1978-1980 Cutlii, as the only Olds motor offered in those cars was the 260 (with the exception of the 79 H/O and 80 442).

I guess I am living proof that you are never too old to learn. This is the first discussion I remember concerning a 305 in and Olds. Thanks for the education guys.
