Quiet(er) Mufflers

Quiet(er) Mufflers
My 72 Supreme's mufflers must be Flowmaster 40's or gutted turbos. Nice sound for a hot rod but this car is used as a cruiser and the mufflers are TOO LOUD...Almost as loud as my 55 gasser with 40's.
The car came with recent new pipes (stock size I think) so any advice on quieter mufflers.
BTW - what are stock pipe sizes? Mine appear to be 2 1/2 into mufflers and 2 1/4 out but just an eyeball estimate.
Thanks

Same here. Had the flowmaster 40 series, way too loud for me.
Changed against Walker Dynomax 17734, good sound, not too loud, not too silent.
Advantage was I could just change the mufflers, all piping could remain. (2,5" in/out, side/side). But this was non stock before.
