Wrecking yard lunch date with the wife

Hey,
Went to my local Pick n Pull to grab some parts for my cars and trucks and brought the wife along. What a good idea! She was an extra set of eyes and hands, and we got parts for 3 of my vehicles in record time. Spent a total of $15 for a hood strut, tailight harness and wipers.
Its a great date if you want to bring your lady (even if she's a princess) Just make sure she wears jeans, boots and gloves and its a good time. You'll probably see cars/trucks you used to own, and a couple you wish you did. Don't forget your tools and BTW, don't forget food and cocktails afterwards at your favorite pub

My fiance comes along on the long road trip yard runs. She likes it. But again she also has a lifted k5 blazer on 35's. I think I got lucky lol.

Motor, you are a very lucky man. Be sure you tell her that at every available opportunity!

X2 on being one lucky man.

I try to visualize my wife at a wrecking yard. Just can't do it, she won't even walk into my garage

Oh I can visualize it... words would never express the misery. Hers, which in turn would lead to mine. Then it would go on the long list of things that pissed her off during the 33 years of our marriage that she would bring up at some point in the future.

That would be my worst nightmare, sorry, I would rather go on my own. Then after shower I can take her to a nice peaceful dinner.

My wife and I went to a swap meet (Montana-sized, that is; pretty small and sad) and she had a blast. Talked with all the vendors about the stuff they were selling, what their background was, and so on. It actually got me lower prices for a couple things!

I have taken the wife to junkyards, she is also willing to help with the car. It makes things alot easier when the wife enjoys the hobby also.

Those were the days.

Mine might hand me a screwdriver
or pump the brakes if I needed her
to do some such easy task.
But at the same time she seems
proud when I tell the story of when
she was 18. How her and I stabbed
a tranny in a 72 Supreme. We were covered in
transmission fluid by the time we were done.
Ha ha, that was 30 yrs. ago. Love it!
Thanks guys, really made me smile.

I keep telling the local yard here they need to get some HOOTERS GIRLS out there Saturday. Go along with you, watch your tools, grab the right tool, massage your back while you remove that caliper, stuff like that.

Business should increase dramatically, and the girls should get great tips.

Remember you heard it here first.

MY idea.

Thanks guys,
Yeah, lucky to share the hobby with the wife. Don't have kids, but i think it would be awesome to give the yard experience with a son or daughter.

I am eagerly awaiting "Motor's Dating Service" to join gearheads like us with similar ladies. Make the first date a picnic in the salvage yard and see where it goes!
Let me know when the service starts - I will go first...

I like all your ideas, but my idea, not so good!

Hooters girls at the yard - brilliant.
"Motor's Dating Service" & "mHarmony" - genius.
Kids at the yard (my idea) - an insurance nightmare.

Barb and I have been married 23 years and when we were dating sometimes on Saturdays we would go through yards around Nebraska. She has a brother that worked on cars and she would help.
She could take off Carbs and take all the bolts off an intake and then I would pull it.

A few times if our Anniversary landed on a Saturday she would suggest going on THE HUNT for Oldsmobile parts.

She also likes going to Swap Meets and loves to haggle for the best price. LOL

She likes being treated like a Lady and would rather hang out with the guys and their cars then the gals talking about their kids and shitty diapers. LOL

I won't let her go so don't ask!

My wife spotted this when we were in AZ. http://www.goldkingmineghosttown.com/

We spend hours there. She loved it. After that she went to the local Pick and Pull with me. She loves cars. But I (pretty much by myself) get to work on them. Out of our current 2 project cars both are hers. (non Olds)

But entirely serious!
Now if she arrives with no kids, wearing a sundress and heels, and gets her hands dirty, then she is going home with me!

Surprisingly my wife is into the car thing with me. I haven't taken her to a junk yard yet, but I think I could see her enjoying it. I took her to a gun show one time, she definitely did not like that.

I got my wife into old cars years ago, and she has had grease up to her elbows more than a few times. We bought a 64 T-bird convertible that she was going to use for work, but verified that it was 1 of less than 100 factory equipped with Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels and a tonneau cover, so we restored it to senior level and later sold it. We bought a nice 69 Grand Prix that she drove for years. Now she drives a 72 Chevy Cheyenne Pick-up. It is a lot easier to spend money on the cars when she is interested too. The friends in our car club are a big part of our life.
