Pin in shift handle of 1974 cutlass supreme

I was able to get the shift **** (floor console) off, it screws off. I am having problems getting the little pin that holds the piece you pull up to change from park to drive etc out...any suggestions how to get it out

Only one such inquiry is usually necessary.... looks like 3 or 4 today?

I have used a pin punch of the appropriate diameter, with a backup "anvil" of whatever is massive and handy if needed. It's a tiny pin and usually comes right out.

FYI, it is neither necessary nor in your own best interest to start multiple posts in multiple sub-forums with the exact same question. We all read the same posts. More importantly, you'll get the best answer if all responses are kept in the same thread, so that incorrect information can be caught and corrected more quickly.
