How to identify '61-'63 Rochester Carbs?

Among the boxes of parts that I received when I bought two Olds 215 engines was a tray/box full of carbs. These seem to be a smaller bore than the '68 and '70 quadrajets I am used to seeing. Some have remnants of metal tags on them but nothing is legible. Where should I be looking for numbers to I.D. these? Also, when I do find the numbers, where should I look to decode them? I will most likely not be using these on the 215 once I get it installed and running.

Thanks.

The metal tags are the only positive identification on 4GC and older 2GC Rochester carbs. If you know for sure they're 215 carbs I have a Delco Carburetor service book that might have the numbers.

4GC are square-bore carbs and unless heavily worked flow only about 500 cfm. They're adequate for their applications, but not an extreme high performance unit.

if there isn't a tag, the possibility of identifying the carb. number is pretty much gone.
