Parts book shows 68-72 Cutlass use the same hinge part numbers. They are different right to left and upper to lower. Toronado is a completely different part number. Not saying they won't work, but if they have a different p/n odds are there is a difference somewhere.

Wasn't somewhere reproducing Chevelle hinges? They, or any other 68-72 A-body car should be identical.

Only 68 Cutlass, full size 88 and 98 are direct interchange. Toro is not the same.

"402030 RH
402031 LH

HINGE, Hood Hinge HH; pn prev. 401600 RH
1968 exc. Toro; see SPRING #574802 for F85"

a trick is to use 1st gen camaro/firebird hood hinges on a 68 cutlass. They bolt on and open the hood more.

Use hinges from a 68 Firebird... bolt right up to the 68 fenders and open higher than the Olds hinges for 68.

or...

No interchange at all between A bodies of that era.

68 Cutlass does not interchange with any other year Cutlass or any other GM A body car. Note the 68 uses 3 bolts to attach hinge to hood. 2 bolts attach hinge to fender.

Interchange '68 Cutlass, '68 Olds 88, '68 Olds 98.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge this actually works. There was a thread on ROP about it but the poster never said whether it worked or not.

I can tell you from first hand experience that the 69 hinges on a multi pattern 68-69 fender are not a direct fit. The bolt pattern for the HOOD is not the same on a 68 hood as it is on the 69 hood. They are very close. You have to elongate (I can't remember if it's a shorter or longer spacing) the holes in the 69 hinges to fit the 68 hood. As Henry has noted above, the 68 hinge has three bolts to attach the hood. I'm pretty sure the 69 hinge only had 2 holes

Was the question about hood hinges or door hinges? I answered for door hinges.
