68 Rally Tach & Clock

I have a Rally Tach & Clock on my 68 442 and was wondering if there is a way to turn off the clock (hopefully just by disconnecting a wire) when i am letting the car sit for long periods of time and if so how do i do it.

Why would you want to? The clock draws a minimal amount of current, it would take months of sitting before the battery becomes discharged enough to affect starting.

You could pull the fuse for the courtesy lamps.

Personally, I think it would be far easier to just disconnect the battery than trying to unplug the clock, or pull fuses.

You have a running/working clock??? Let it run!!! That's almost a blessing in disguise.

Install one of these on the negative post of your battery and isolate the whole car. These are made in two versions...the cheap $5 version and the better $20 dollar version. Dont cheap out. There is a difference.Put a tender on the battery. Same deal there. Look at The Battery Butler.

Not a bad idea.

Not a bad idea but i have an original reproduction on it and wanted to avoid chopping up a fairly new cable. Perhaps i can install an on/off switch on one of the wires under the dash.

Agree with others - battery tender or unplug the negative cable. Anything else is making this way more complicated than it needs to be.

No chopping involved.
