1957 Dash pad options
So I want to replace the dash pad on my 1957 convertible. What are the options?
I looked at the Just Dashes web site but it sounds like they only restore parts that you send them. I'm pretty sure this dash is welded in place.......
Thanks,
Bill

It's glued in place to the metal below.
Just Dashes is a rip-off, they quoted me $850 and $200+ for shipping, for one they have already pre-made, no core required.
I just got a pre-made one for my '58 (has the same dash pad as '57) for $750 INCLUDING shipping from:
They are in Sweden, but have a branch in Cali and ship from there.
Ask for Tony and tell him that Roger in NY sent you.
Their pads are gorgeous and are a good deal imo.
And you're in luck, they only come in black, but colors can be added using SEM dye.
Mine will have to be dyed green.
There's also a seller "patsy44dd" (zowie! LOL) selling '58 dash pads on eBay. From their pics the fit may not be perfect in the corners and they may have seams. Only $200 though, so if less than perfect is ok it may be worth fiddling with. Search for "1958 88 Oldsmobile dash pad", they specialize in '58s, but the pad is exactly the same.
Hope this helps and Good luck!

Thanks for the lead. I will definitely check them out.
I called Just dashes (twice) and the person answering the phone really seemed to be knowledge-free......so it was the blind leading the blind.

If you've seen some of the Swede restorations, you'll know they are perfectionists, some of the best in the world. Their pads are of that caliber.
The RDAutoline website is in Swedish but has a button for "English" at the right of toolbar. Also there is a "Contact" button for eMail. I paid by PayPal and had the pad in less than 2 weeks. Let us know how you make out!
Are you a doc? my wife's in Family Practice & Internal Medicine here.

Good to know. I sent them an email this morning. I will definitely let everyone know how it goes.
Yes, a retired orthopedic surgeon. I like operating on cars better because there is no time limit.....
