ignition switch removal?

ignition switch removal?

cleaning up my steering column for my 69 442. would like to remove the ignition switch out of the column so I can paint the column and clean up the switch. how does it come out of the column? thanks

Remove steering wheel. Remove all stuff under wheel to gain access to ign lock cyl. Should be two bolts holding it in place. Remove bolts, lock slides out

I think he means the ignition lock cylinder, not the ignition switch.

That's what I posted how to do. didn't know there were other threads on it.

Removing the steering wheel is the hardest part

But the lock cylinder is not held in place with two bolts, as you stated, but with a single spring loaded catch.

The switch, on the other hand, IS retained by two bolts (or nuts - I don;t recall).
