Mystery Wire

Still chasing some electrical issues on my 70 442. I have a single pink wire with a very unusual connector attached with no obvious home. The car has power windows and pink wires are pretty common throughout that circuit. The obvious connection would be at the relay inside the drivers side kick panel but that has no provision for this single wire. We have power to that relay but no power to the window switch in the door. Any help would be appreciated.

That single wire connector with a tab is an accessory power feed. Look at your fuse box and you will see a row of recepticles in the middle between the two rows of fuses. Each one is keyed differently. This plugs into only one of them. The relay in your first photo is the power window/seat isolation relay that only provides power when the key is in the RUN or ACC position. The relay prevents having to run the 40A current for the windows and/or seats through the ignition switch contacts. This is all described in the Electrical chapter in your Fisher Body Manual.

This is not a 1970 Olds fuse panel, but note the line of receptacles in the center. Note how each is keyed differently so that only a specific connector fits.

Joe,

Your information was spot on. The pink wire plugged right into the fuse block and solved the no power problem beyond the relay. Thanks
