Convertible Top suddenly stopped working...

Good evening. A friend of mine was enjoying a drive with the top back on Saturday. The temp was getting cooler, so we pulled over to let the top up. Unfortunately it did NOTHING, not even a sound! I did noticed since earlier last week that the top was moving slower. It happened the day after I had a CD installed. Any co-relation? I purchased a new motor two years ago and this car is rarely driven (5000 miles in the last 5 years). Really need some help. Suggestions???
