1968 442 rally pac question

I picked up a set of rally pac gauges for my 68 442. my old gauges were idiot lights and now i've discovered that the plug does not match. does anyone know if i can get an adaptor or do i need to change the electrical? any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Bob

It's a common question. The wires need to be moved in the plug. Somebody here will know......

Here are the instructions. I did it to mine and it works great. It's not absolutely necessary to disconnect the green wire from the ignition switch behind the dash. If you don't, however, the temp gauge will "peg" every time you start the car, and then return to normal. By disconnecting the green wire and installing a ground, the temp gauge (and the other gauges, regardless) will work as intended.

thanks. i understand that i may have to move the wiring, but the pin location on the new one i got from year one looks different from the rally pacs i see online. the online ones have one large gap between the 7 pins, the one i have has two large gaps between pins 1&2 and 5&6.

The plastic connector is the same for both gauge and light pods. The "missing" pins simply aren't used. Go back and look at Randy's wiring diagram again. Note that both configurations have a BLANK position (only seven of the eight pins are used), but it varies by configuration.

Remember to change out your temp and oil pressure sending units as well. The idiot light sending units won't work with the actual gauges.

and put some silicone grease on the pins so the connector can be unplugged w/o breaking off the pins. For decades.
