Will a the tailpipes from a dual exhaust 84 hurst olds fit a 84 delta 88

I wanna do dual exhaust on my 84 delta 88 and not many b-bodys came with a dual exhaust option except the 94-96 caprice, impala ss, and buick roadmasters, but those cars only have a 2" diameter tailpipe. Where as my delta 88 has a 2 1/4 inch tail pipe.

I wanted to know if the tailpipes from a 83-85+ hurst/olds and 442, will fit a b-body delta 88, they seem to be the only stock tail pipes that are 2 1/4. and there only 35 bucks a piece at advance auto parts. figured its the easiest and cheapest way.

If the g-body tail pipes wont fit a b-body what cars would work?

I wanna do it this way so i don't have to take the car to a shop and have a custom exhaust bent up to go over the axle. Which would probably be pretty expensive

Most of the G-bodies used a dual exhaust muffler - single on the right side to the muffler. Some had a split from the converter with 2 mufflers
The reason for your 2 1/4" is it's single exhaust - 2 - 2" is more than adequate!
Some catalogs show the pipes and how they're bent - compare to a picture of yours.
Get some prices from exhaust shops - you'll be surprised! Since they can't/won't modify factory SS systems, they might welcome the work!

Right, the tailpipes would come from the g-body with the split pipe at the converter and 2 mufflers style. I would like to keep the system 2 1/4 all the way around. Mostly cause i already have mufflers (flowmaster 40 series)which are 2 1/4 so i dont wanna have to use reducing adapters on it to go to a 2 inch pipe on 1 side.

From what i can see the pipes look almost identical when comparing the b and g-body pipe. I guess i'll go get the pipe and worst come to worst i'll just return it if wont fit.

And I'm definitely avoiding shops at all cost!!!
About 3 years ago when i first bought the car the exhaust was rotted out on it so i took it to the shop to have a new system put on. For a single exhaust from the manifold back (downpipe, cat converter, pipes and muffler) it cost me 500 dollars!!!! Ever since then i dont go to the shop for work, they charge 80 per hour which is too rich for my blood. Hell for 500 i could of done a complete dual exhaust system.

I work at an exhaust shop and can tell you from experience they will not work. So much modification would be required there'd be nothing left of the original pipe when your done.

Usually I use walker pn's 54014 and 54015 for the over the axle and custom make the rest. Those pipes are 2 inch dia though.

Our shop could do duals for about $350 depending what tips you want.

And any shop can make a 2" pipe fit a 2 1/4" muffler - won't hurt a thing!

Biggest thing on your $500 bill was the converter - probably almost 1/2 of it!
Now, you can buy them for under $100 for a aftermarket!
