Family Debate

Though the Cutlass in question is mine, my brother, my dad and I have all come together to work on it. It has become something that has brought us together. However, we are at ends on a certain point. My brother and mom believe that I should leave the car the same color which is green and gold. However, I think that the color scheme should be silver and black like the Camaro below. Seeing as you all are all knowing and all knowledgeable, I wanted to see what you think. If the car is green and gold the interior would all be black leather with black carpet. If the car is silver and black, then the interior would be a mixture of silver cloth and black leather. The rims of the car would be black so to give the car color cordination while the brake pads would be silver to match the main color. The rims would be in the fashion of the black Camaro. What do you think? (The green and gold would be redone.)

I know nobody is touching this ine because it is rude to suggest what anyone else do with their car. It's your car, do with it what you would like. My opinion... the silver and black would be sweet, very classy!

Don't worry. I would not take it as people being rude. I just want their opinions. This is something that I am going to have to live with. I just want to make sure that I have all the options on the table before I make my final choice. However, thank you for your opinion. You have helped me come that much closer to making a decision.

Thanks,

I like green very much on cars but for some reason, that color combo just doesn't work for me. Maybe green and silver instead, I don't know. The cold seems to be too harsh and remind me of the 80's cars where outlandish colors and lots of weird combos existed. You mentioned the brake pads being silver to match the black/silver combo, didn't you mean the calipers? I assume the car has disc front brakes then...
I will see if I can find something on the net and post it here to show what I was thinking about the green/silver combo.

Ok, after looking at lots of pictures I think I realize it is the hue of the green that is wrong and not the combo of green and gold. I found one picture of a nice green that would be better in my opinion, with the gold stripes. Here it is. Also, add some nice pin stripes outlining the large gold stripes, I think this would make a better transistion between the gold and the green.

I agree

I agree with Oldsguy, that it may just be the tone of the two colors that clash. A body guy told me once that no man has ever picked a car color off of a chart successfully, it is much easier to find a car you like, and get the paint code. I would go to more car shows (it won't hurt).

It might also depend on how serious you are now or may be in the future
about showing it!

Also consider all of the nooks and crannies to mask and repaint

I like the green. However, I think it would look better if the gold were darker. Maybe even a bronze color. I think the green is a pretty shade that fits the car. Then again, it is your car. Do whatever makes you happy.

I think the silver & black looks best. The shades of green & gold seem to clash in the photos. To me anyway.

Seeing how I am all knowing and all knowlegable, I'd never go on a message board and ask a bunch of people whom I don't know what color to paint my car....
