Our 71' cutlass S

My wife's grandfather bought it new in 71'. Through the years it was a some what daily driver. Before he passed on, he gave the car to my father in law. Since then it's has been restored to almost 100%. There's a few small things left to do but it's looking great!

The minor body work was done in 1996, the seats we did in the summer. Everything else is the way it was. Motor, transmission and rear end are all original and never re-built. We finally got new bolt on center caps this week and we still need to put the new headliner in. Plus there are some christmas goodies coming for it too!

Hey, Does your engine sit lower on the passenger side or is that just an illusion. One of the issues I have with the car I am looking at is that the engine sits noticably lower on the passenger side

If nothing else has been changed it would indicate a motor mount that has given it up.

smason, very nice machine!

Nice 71!

Red cars look great with black vinyl tops.

Sounds like you have been busy with the upgrades/improvements.

Congrats on the "best olds" award

How hard was it to pull the engine and paint it? I am getting ready to do the same to my 71

I guess the level of difficulty would depend on your mechanical ability.
You are a step ahead by not having air conditioning components to deal with.

Did you change out the valve covers on your engine, those are not original to the car but are a nice touch

That car sure reminds me of mine! I have a '72 Cutlass S that is an original-paint car in Matador Red w/ Black vinyl top. Mine has a black bench interior and I added correct SS1 wheels. I also am using the "script"valve covers in my refurbishment. My car reaaly needs "NOTHING" and everyone says I'm nuts to touch it but "What the Heck". I'm planning a lot of suspension and a few minor performance upgrades---currently a 64k miles, 2bbl, single exhaust, un-touched survivor with functioning A/C. Boy!, I REALLY like your interior!!!! You have a GREAT looking car!

Very sharp car. The interior is really nice also. Congrats on the trophy too, it's always good to see an Olds win something.

Thanks for the complients!
I found the valve covers at the auto wrecker one day when I was looking for parts for one of my trucks. For $10 I couldn't pass them up.
