New Heater Core Damaged in Shipping, is it Still ok to Use?

Recently purchased a replacement for my 69's heater core. The core took a hit during shipping and some of the fins got bent up. Will it leak or not work or do you think it would still be ok to use. It took a week or so to get here so I don't really want to wait for another to show up. I filled it up with water and it didn't leak.

Did you report the damage to the vendor? I'd say it will probably be ok from the pics. You can pressure test it.

Given how much of a PITA it is to change, why take the chance? This is the vendor's problem.

While you're at it, swap it out for an OEM brass one.

Ya I was going to hook it up to a fish pump I had. Will report though.

Compressed air would be better. You can test it under higher pressure than I think a fish pump would generate. You paid for a new part though and you should get a new part.

Ask yourself, "is a week really going to matter in the course of the restoration of this car". Get what you paid for.

Where can you get a new brass heater core for the 68-72 A body?

Where do you find them lol. If only I was able to find the brass ones when I swapped mine out a while back, oh well.

I found the copper and brass cores for 68-72 at only a couple of vendors. Summit Racing had them, and had the best price at the time (a few months ago).
