'73 Cutlass Production

Wanted to see if anyone can steer me toward production #'s for a '73 Cutlass 'S', 455, 4 speed. The owner claims it's all factory, but I'm not sure how to verify this. Can this be determined by the VIN? Thanks for any help.

Engine code in the VIN should be a V. As in 3G37V3_______.

3= Olds
G= Cutlass S
37=fastback coupe
V= 455 cid with N10 (dual exhaust) and M20 (4-speed manual trans)
3= 1973
Letter indicates assembly plant, M=Lansing MI, G=Framingham MA, R=Arlington TX
Last 6 digits are car sequential VIN

Don't have any firm production #s, but I can promise you there weren't many. If I had to guess, I'd say they were probably all built in Lansing. You might want to ask around www.73-77olds.com too.

The V the VIN on 1972-73 cars indicates the 270 net hp 455 and M20 4 speed trans. (oops - I see rocketraider beat me to that info.) I'll go dig up production numbers - I have them somewhere for 1973. There were just a couple hundred built in this configuration.
