350 rocket

i have a 350 rocket in a 77 cutlass i think it might be time for rebuilding.. check the compression and 1-2 were not at a good pressure.. when added oil they jumped up so it could mean that its time for a rebuild... how much should a rebuild look estimate out too i no its depending on whats rong with it.. i have 1200 saved right now and hoping that i dont have to go to much over that

About $2000 for a stock rebuild. I'm one to run old engines til they are done though. Does it burn oil? How's the oil pressure? Try 20W-50 oil.

im not to sure i havent drove it to much sence i got it... i no it gots a oil leak and i need to change the oil gasket so i contastly check the oil make sure its good.. when i got it it was runed on like no oil i changed it out emidently.. i left it at my mechanics tho and he did a compression test and he said it was low that he belives its time for a rebuilding soon... i was thinkin of just running it down too then rebuilding / replacing... so i can use 20w-50

You bet, use the 20-50 and start looking around for a good 350 block buy it then start the hunt on e-bay, craigs list, and here for parts. You will be surprised on how many new parts are available for great prices when your not in a hurry to rebuild. There are also great used parts as well. I have done several engine rebuilds this way and have saved a bundle.
