Hmmm, how far is up?? Need a bit more info?
Does then engine run now?
Does it smoke or knock?
How many items from the current engine be re-used? (fuel / water pump, carb, starter, dist, etc...)

Generally speaking if you are going to do most of the removal and reassembly yourself I'd budget for somewhere between $3-4k total including machine shop work.

The engine actually runs really good it passes smog with flying colors.. one may problem I don't like is that sometimes like maybe 1/5 it don't start right up... other then that it runs good I just wanna get it to run perfect

If originality isnt an issue you might be better off selling the 350 and getting a brand new crate motor. Sounds like you could sell the old 350 for a decent amount considering it runs good.

BUT: If I was you I wouldnt replace or rebuilt the engine yet. If starting the car is the only issue I would check the other components of the engine that effect starting.

So my gas mileage is bad I don't no if its normal its my first olds car... I put 20 dollars in gas 4.00 a gal. So that's 5 gallons I drove 20 miles there and back and was on empty. That's like 4 or so gals a mile... I was surprised with the gas mileage

I get 12 to 15 with my 455 something is not right. If it passed smog you may have a fuel leak somewhere. Unless you drove 20 miles at 75 mph in second gear. Have the carb checked to make sure it is working correctly. But I would look for a pinhole pressure leak in the fuel system somewhere.

Yes just adjusted timing and figured out it was my carbuerator. It was shot and really dumped way to much gas causes it to over flood it and turn over when starting and didn't help gas millage either
