A Blonde, A Ford, and A Mattress‏

Not a Joke… Pictures Included…

A blonde ran over a mattress on the highway and decided not to worry. She kept on driving. It caught on the undercarriage of her Ford. The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to tear a hole in the fuel tank.

The subsequent lack of fuel is what finally brought her vehicle to its knees.

She still managed to drive 30 more miles with 65 lbs of tangled stuff wrapped around her drive shaft.

She had it towed to her Ford dealership and complained that the vehicle had a "sort of shimmy", when she was driving at "high speeds."

Below are the photos of what they found at her Ford dealership...

The last photo is by far the best.

"Sort of a shimmy", I bet it did!

I really don't want to speculate why the guys' eyes are blacked out.
I'll leave it up to your imagination!

I saw that a few years ago. I still can't fathom the vibration and racket that must have been making under that vehicle.

That is amazing! I try to avoid all debris on the road, no matter how innocent, small, or non-threatening it appears to be. If I cannot avoid something and end up running over it I cringe and hope for the best. There could be a 100 lb anvil in a cardboard box one cubit foot in size, you never know.

My wife ran over a sweatshirt and it got tangled up in the right front axle of our Park Avenue Buick. She noticed the ABS light came on suddenly. It wrapped around the axle and ripped up the ABS wires.
When I was a kid my Dad ran over what he thought was a piece of a tire with our 65 Chev pulling a camper and it ended being a huge snapping turtle. The tongue hit the shell and ripped it off. It scattered a dozen or so eggs out onto the highway.

Oh My God!! Sort of a shimmy, lol?? That's funny - kinda pathetic, but funny!! No matter what the hair color, how could you not know something major was going on, after running over a mattress?

I too try not to hit anything that's laying in the road.... rocks, sticks, bags, whatever. You never know what's gonna happen if you hit it!

Only a true idiot would have kept going after that...
And WHY did she hit it anyway? I think they are big enough to see from a distance, and they are usually white! Playing with the phone, i bet...

Even plastic grocery bags have been known to wrap around driveshafts and damage seals that cost a lot of $ to replace. People behing me must think I am nuts when I avoid running over them.
I am amazed how strong that plastic is when stretched into rope around something. It is pretty weak when groceries are in it in bag form though...

I had a plastic bag wrap around my exhaust near the engine and catch fire. No damage but I did stop and bail. It took awhile to figure out what happened. The bag was blown under my car by another car.

Reminds me of a cop car that caught fire around here last year. I think it was a trashbag that was lit by the hot cat converter.
A good reminder not to park on tall grass, either...

Exactly, I do industrial maint. and sometimes I have to fix forklifts that the guys run over plastic wrapping and it gets wrapped around the drive wheels and into the brakes. Then we get to call the service guy out, company loves to pay big bucks for employee stupidity and laziness
