There's also a story like this about Richard Nixon. Apparently Olds is not immune to checquered pasts?

I owned a car audio store in southern California in the early eighties and a customer of ours had a bumper sticker on his car that read;

A Blonde in every pond,
Forget the dead, vote for Ted!

He said that women had swerved at him while he was driving.

Allan what is Tricky Dick's story. The only thing I ever heard was people were complaining that he lived too lavish a lifestyle, and he replied, really I -only- drive an Oldsmobile.

If there was anything good to come out of this, it was the fact it kept Teddy from ever becoming president. I better be careful I don't become political. I think Nixon got a raw deal compared to Clinton.

He mentioned owning a 1950 Oldsmobile when he gave his famous Checkers speech. Checkers was a cocker spaniel that somebody had given his daughters and he said they were going to keep it. The Checkers speech was in response to financial irregularities he had been accused of. It was given in 1952. Here is a link:

I remember this but I never knew there were two deaths. Only about the one in his car that wasn't reported for about twelve hours.

One of my favorite bumper stickers. "Tedd Kennedys oldsmobile has killed more people than my gun"

If he had become president, Ms. Kopeckne would have survived and Volkswagen sales would have soared:

Mike,
That has to be from archives. As you know, there has been a ton of Kennedy stuff (old and new) floating around every medium know to man (or woman) in recognition of the 50th anniversary (is that a proper term here? ) of JFK's assassination.

Killian, that's a riot! I'm always lamenting how creative and quirky commercials (and ads) of the '60s and '70s were compared to today. That one reminded me of the Benson & Hedges commercial where the guy is having a special windshield installed in his Beetle to accommodate his 100 mm cigs! We're so dern scared to hurt anybody's feelings nowadays....
