Tommy Smothers

Another of our Oldsmobile legends is gone. RIP Tommy Smothers 1937-2023.

I could never watch Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour or Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In growing up, because my mother didn't like their incisive humor and she controlled the TV set at all times. I missed a lot of groundbreaking television comedy.

IIRC, Dickie is the Olds guy, but I'll miss Tommy. Even though he played the dumb guy he was the brains of the outfit.

Could you please explain to an old man what IIRC means? Thank you.

Dickie was the one involved with Oldsmobile. I think the TV show was where the cash came from, and it was probably written off as "Advertising Expense".

Loved watching them while growing up. Very impressionable in shaping the good in people vs status quoe

Tommy finally came face to face with the foaming “Pumas”. (I couldn’t figure out how to add an accent to the “u”!!). Rest in peace… Forgiveness and peace…. 😀😂

I won't do it. Laziness is laziness and ignorance. This laziness in today's society is so telling. Fools can't spell. Give change for a dollar? Let alone know how to spell. Good luck. I am not picking at you. Just this non caring world we live in. Now I am expected to know XQY RSW??? Seriously laziness world.

Rest In Power to The Smothers Brothers. There has never been anyone like them. AND they were Oldsmobile people.

The best liberals on TV when liberals were good people. They were great.

And the shortcut abbreviations are here to stay. Just do an internet term search when someone posts something you've never seen before.
It is, literally, the way it is now. And at my advanced age, I was loathe to keep up. However, I have changed. I wanna keep up. I wanna stay relevant. Until I die. Which may not be too long from now.

Until then, stay thirsty my bruthas...

I came from an age of spelling, as well - I think most of us did. I was a trained & practicing biomolecular engineer. I can very easily spell deoxyribonucleic acid. If I use (write/spell) deoxyribonucleic acid in a sentence, it most likely would not be well received. I believe it's far more meaningful to state, as an example: it's part of his DNA rather than it's part of his deoxyribonucleic acid.

Side note not to steal the thread

Norm

If you have a chance Norm you might enjoy "Lessons in Chemistry" series on Apple TV+
Somewhat based on deoxyribonucleic acids inception
