I just found out that my uncle on my mother's side was awarded a Silver Star medal (he was in the Canadian Army WWII). I suppose I could have looked it up but I've already typed three quarters of what I have to say. What was a Silver Star awarded for?

Nevermind. I looked it up. Also I'll have to call BS on my cousin in WV. Our uncle couldn't have received the Silver Star. While over 60 Canadians did receive the Silver Star, those Canadians served in the US Military. Our uncle was in the Canadian Army at Normandy. I got sucked in.

UPDATE AGAIN

OK, OK, over 60 Canadians received the US medal of honour (which is where my search brought me originally) but the Silver Star was handed out more freely so I'll have to ask if he has proof as I don't want to go through the 500,000 plus people who've received it. So I suppose it's possible. More investigation needed.
