Ever get a second chance at a lost love?

Hey Guys,
Not sure how often this happens, but I just had the pleasure of buying back my 1955-98 (the one listed in my signature). Loved the car, and never wanted to sell it (I sold it two years ago during my divorce).

The person who bought it never did anything with it (title was still in my name). I kept in contact... and out of the blue the car was offered back to me..

Has anyone else got a second chance at correcting a mistake? Sure the car needs some paint, but it's mine again to restore!

Anyone else ever have the pleaseure??
Paul.

I've heard a couple of stories like this. We have at least one member who went through this with his 70 cutlass. Maybe he'll pop in.

Its usually the other way around. Person wants old car back, can't get it. So, enjoy it and hope the honey moon is long.

For two years I was trying...I wanted the car back in the worst way, than I get this call yesterday. Today the car is in my shop. I will never make this mistake again!

That's probably my favorite big car. Like it much more than the 55 chevy versions. But I'm biased. Glad to hear its got a good home.

My favorite too. I like the bigger motor, and power options over the Chevy.

Naaah. Unfortunately, the restraining orders always seem to prevent it.

Thanks guys....just to be clear, it is not my Olds (be cool if it was) - she is a '70 C-10 Suburban. I did not want to mislead anyone.

Back to topic, I love the mid-50's Olds!!

Was a first for me too (third time was the charm). The car is a real time capsule.

Congrats on being able to get back your lost love. I almost did that once but the guy wanted way to much money.

You're a lucky man. Once owned a '55 98 2-door hdtp. Looking at your dash board almost made my eyes sweat a bit. If I could find mine I'd buy her back in a heartbeat. She was sold to a Marine at Cherry Point in 1964 and I believe he took her to California.

Thanks guys... I'm usually am not that lucky. If your 98 has been in Cal all these years, the car may still exist. There are ways to search DMV to see (if you know the vin).

Now that I have my 55 back, I will probably sell the 63 Starfire I just bought. I actually trailered both cars home from Phoenix the same day (last weekend). I commited to by the Starfire before the 55 was offered back to me. Now that's dumb luck...
Paul.

I sent an email to our BMV and received an unsatisfactory answer. They said they only keep records for 10 years. Much as I hate to pay a personal visit, I guess I'll have to explain what I really want...

If you have spare time, (and remember the name of the individual you sold the car to) you can try people finder. Might be that you will have multiple owners to search for since '64, but a worth while endevor never the less..

Actually it happened to me twice! LOL
Started with my 65 Corvette coupe which i bought in 76, paid 3300. for it NOM. It had a stout 350 in it. It was originally a 300 hp 327. Couple of years later i decided i needed a 38 Chevy Sedan Delivery, found a 37. It sat for about 6 years before i could start the build. The only way i could afford to build the car quicker would be sell the vette and invest alot into parts/stuff/things for the 37, which i did. Sold the vette in 84. It took 5 years to build the 37, my first total build. I had a good frame, a good but rusted body and parts. It ended up winning 2 awards in the world of wheels car show in Lubbock. I did drive it for a couple of years but decided to find my true love, my Vette. I had the VIN memorized and knew it had gone to New Mexico. So in 1990 called the NM DMV gave them the VIN and got a name. long story short I bought it back, for alot more than i sold it, LOL.

In 86 I found a 73 one owner Trans Am nice but needed some TLC. Bought it drove it for about 2 years then traded it for a 66 vette "night mare" didnt realize it at the time. So in approximately 1999 a friend told me he had seen a TA for sale that was alot like the one i had, of course i had to go look. Guess what? Yep.... my car. Guess what?.... Yep bought it back, It was in better condition than when i sold it, paid $8500.
Still have both cars to this day will never part with them again, I hope lol. Just need to finish my 67 442, then maybe find a nice Buick GS to build..... maybe!

Way too long ago for me to remember his name. Believe me, I sure try from time to time.
