1972 factory 4 speed

OK, I know this question has been asked a thousand times. How can I tell if a 1972 Cutlass is a factory 455, 4 speed car. I have a chance at a convertible that supposed to be factory original with these options. Can I tell by the serial number.

The 5th VIN character will be a V to denote a factory 455 4 spd.
