Keeping my car close to stock, but have a pair of NOS in the box Gabriel Guardian gas rear shocks left over from a former '77 Olds 88. I can't return them or, so far, sell them, so I'm wondering if I can use them for my Cutlass?
In both cases the mounting eyes and T-bars are the same so would mount OK..

The (new replacement) Gabriel 81514 is used in Olds 88s from '65 to '84.
( a '65 88 weighed 3850 lbs, a '84 88 weighed 3600 lbs, a '69 Cutlass weighs 3350 lbs.).
I realize that the valving is different so it may give a stiffer ride in the rear.

Specs:
'69 Cutlass OEM shocks:
extended length: 20.64
collapsed length: 12.78
stroke: 7.86

Gabriel Guardian 81514:
extended length: 22.14
collapsed length: 12.28
stroke: 8.86

What say you?

I had to size shocks for my lifted Jeep by comparing specs. You have done the same thing with these shocks and I think you have a match.

Forgot to mention this Gabriel 81514 is also correct for a '65 to '67 Cutlass with the "Extra HD Suspension"
(whatever that is...Police, Taxi?) , as well.
