Power steering pressure line loose

Alright, I have a '77 and put a '72 12:1 box on it. I put new lines on, but the pressure side, even after it bottoms out on the fitting on the box and can't turn it anymore, the metal line coming out of the fitting is loose, like I can move it with my hand, up and down (about 1/16 inch), back and forth. Did I miss something on the inside of the box where the pressure hose goes? I haven't started it yet so I don't know if the o-ring needs to be under pressure to seat.
thanks,
Dan

Oh, checked the Rock Auto catalog at least and the fitting sizes are the same, it's just the length of the hoses themselves that are different, the '72 hose is 3/4" shorter...
