I was reading JimLabo's major build thread and noticed something about his frame that I didn't understand. The front spring pocket is on his '70 frame (circled in red) is raised above the frame rail - like a little hat. The front spring pocket on my '72 frame is flat with a reinforcing plate over this area. I thought '70-'72 frames were interchangeable but these pictures seem to indicate they are not the same and would use different spring heights to achieve the same ride height. Can anyone explain the differences? I'm just trying to learn here! Thanks.
