'70 442 Rag Joint

Hello,
Can anyone tell me where to place the new "rag joint" i.e. steering joint dampner on the steering box splined shaft. I failed to measure the location of the old one before removal.
The new one (and old one now) can slide all the way to the steering box and bottom out. No witness marks are left from the old one....I did a great clean up job (on the area)...good and bad at the same time !
Thanks !

1/2 way down the splines, there should be a groove or notch. That's the only place the bolt for the rag joint can pass by the splines. It's self-aligning, no need to measure.
