why wont any one buy this

I looked through my back issues of JWO. The ad for the '72 Delta first appeared in the August issue, and it was in September's as well, so this is the third month for it. I'll have to keep watching.

I lived in College Park (Orlando) for 15 years until recently. Try parking your car in any large parking lot near Pine Hills (take the coil wire with you). You should sell it without a problem over the weekend... Good luck!

There has been a 4 door 73 Pontiac Grand Am (455, 4 speed, I think) for sale in the Pontiac Club Smoke Signals Magazine for over a year too. 4 doors just aren't the cars people want to buy. The Pontiac is also mustard color, which also doesn't help. But it's in the magazine, every month.

That would actually be a pretty cool car....455/4spd/4dr....a 444!

If only it was a different color outside and had a vinyl top; I like the interior color. Funny it has a radio delete! I don't mind four doors, usually they're more intact and original and I'm more in it for the novelty and vintage aspects of the car.
This car if I saw on CL I'd pass on mainly because of the baby blue. Whitewalls and maybe upgrade the hubcaps (if ever there was a car that needed the wheels changed it's this one)would go a long way towards making it pop when you first see the photos though. You want it to grab them. I'd have an asking price of $1500 and be prepared to take $1200 if I was lucky. If the paint still has a gloss to it, take it to a location where you can take better pics. The shadowy driveway and rough edges on the car don't look good together at first glance.

I wonder... would it sell without a roof??? (clean cut job of course) It may attract a younger/wilder crowd if it was 'convertiblized'. Seriously though, that '70 455 is worth some money without a doubt. I'm sure there's plenty of guys that would love to drop that mill into their Cutlass.

I know cutting the roof off of the car isn't a serious recommendation, but it did bring to mind the fact that there's a 1971 Cutlass in my neck of the woods for sale. It is listed for $2800.00 obo. They actually cut the roof off of it. It looks decent, and I bet it's a fun car, but it isn't selling either. IMO It's the economy. If the car isn't really special, it's going to take longer to sell.
I do like the idea of taking to it to an area of town where the demographics is more receptive a large cool car, like the one this member is trying to sale. That stuff works. I drive through some poorer neighborhoods here in Birmingham, and the attention my car (1975 Cutlass) gets is phenomenal. I get offers to buy daily. I've seen some four dour Oldsmobile sale in these neighborhoods for a couple grand as well.

At the dealership where I worked, the owner's grandson failed to check the box for whitewall tires on a '69 98 LS. When it came in, Granddad threw a walleyed fit and finished with "Get that ugly SOB to the tire store and get some whitewalls on it before anybody sees it like that!"
It really made a whale of a difference!!

He finally sold the boat
Always loved the big cars, this one seems to be nice so I bought it. There are 3 things i have to fix before I can enjoy it on the road:
1) Passenger side exhaust manifold leaks (I hope I just need a gasket)
2) Steering has lots of play
3) Weatherstripping needs to be replaced (mainly around the driver and passenger side windows).
I'll post in the appropriate forum if I need help :-)

Don't make fun of the new guy.
He's bought a car that we didn't want and he did. his action has saved another Olds from the junkyard.
Welcome to the forum tallas. I hope you enjoy your car, this forum has a lot to offer Oldsmobile enthusiasts.
Plenty of friendly help from well informed Olds fans here, don't hesitate to ask for help or advice.

Welcome tallas. Thanks for saving one of the "big girls." The 98 Sedans are the Rodney Dangerfields of Oldsmobile, "don't get no respect." The A-body guys love the 425/455 engines out of them though. I like the B/C bodies because their different. Almost everyone has an A-body, even me. Kanter has the suspension parts. If you need advice go to the 98 section. Good luck, Ken
