67 442 brakes squeal after new rear brake shoes
Hi, a mechanic replaced the rear shoes because they were cracked. The front brake shoes were fine - he said he just removed the front wheels and repacked the bearings. After replacing the rear shoes, he said they adjusted the brakes.
The day I drove it home, it was fine - brakes fine and no noise. However, the next day, I drove it to the mall, after around 10 minutes of driving (in the city - routine stop and go), the brakes yield a high pitch squeal sound. I drove the car later in the day after sitting for 3 hours and did the same thing - squeal after 10 minutes of driving. Cannot tell if it is from the front or back. Scares surrounding cars at red lights. The braking is fine. Is this squeal sounds normal? Sounds scary like metal on metal. Will it go away with time? Will driving damage the drums? Does if have anything to do with the brand of shoes they used for replacing? Adjustment? All help is appreciated.
I don't want to mess with not having the brakes right - scary! Thanks.
