Brake booster rod adjustement..

Hi again, just replace a brake booster on a 71 442, measured the distance between the back of the booster and top of nut on the shaft (see video in link) I had about 5 7/8", but 6 3/8" in the video.

Now if I place the pedal just touching the brake switch, the holes are about 1/2" apart !
Did not take a picture before, but I remember that the pedal stroke was not that much before.

Any advice on adjuting this, I don't want to push to much on the booster.

Video:

Thanks a lot

The switch is adjusted to fit the pedal after the pushrod is correctly installed.

The pushrod is adjusted for pedal height and as Joe P said then you adjust the switch.

Thanks,
And how do we adjust that pushrod, I measured the old one, but I pretty sure the pedal would be too low,
is any stock dimension from back of booster to top of nut on the rod ? Or top of pedal to floor ?

Thanks guys !

The important dimension is pedal to floor, to ensure you don't hit the floor first.

Adjust it so it's against the upper stop.

Thanks, I'll try it.
And I've checked again the dimension from back of booster to top of nut on my old booster and found something !!
When you measure this, be sure to pull on the rod, mine was lowered, probably due to bad internal damage.
Now I get 6 1/4", I'll adjust the new one at that, and now the hole on the pedal and rod should be pretty close.
Do you know if there's suppose to have a return spring on the brake pedal and the upper stop should be a rubber bumper right?

Thanks a lot
