4 wheel disc brake feedback wanted
I'm starting a resto on a 72 U code big block Cutlass Wagon this winter. I can't decide if I want to put discs on the back, leave it drums or upgrade to vista drums.
Who has 4 wheel discs and drives their car a few thousand miles a year? Was it worth it? I plan on only driving state highways but I want to be able to hit the interstate and feel safe.
I'm leaning towards disc/disc since it already has discs in the front. I am rebuilding the system so I want to know if the extra$$ is worth it. Thanks.

Who is running 4 wheel discs?
Posted in brake forum too. I would like feedback from people who drive their car a few thousand miles a year and have done the conversion. Was it worth the $$? The car in question is a 72 U code BBO Cutlass wagon disc brake car. Thanks.

4wheel DB
I built a 67 Nova SS BBC car and installed a Dana 60 with disc brakes. Somewhere along the line it became necessary to change the differential to a Ford 9 inch that was built with 11 inch drums. To be honest, I couldn't denote any appreciable difference in stopping power. That said, the car only weighed 3000 lbs soaking wet, which is probably a lot less than what you're building. I do know the drum setup was a whole bunch less expensive...

Hello:
I upgraded the brakes on my 66 Cutlass to disc on the front and 11" drums on the rear. I bought a complete front kit from a supplier. The rear upgrade backing plates came from Packrat, they were off a 77 Cutlass. It was one of the easiest jobs I have done to the car. Even with buying backing plates and all new drums / hardware, I was still under the rear disc kit. The car is a long term project, so I have not driven it yet, but I expect everything will be fine.
Thanks, Ron
