surface rust on a block

how bad does this block look

i got the ok from my machine shop teacher i come into the shop at 6 30am work till 8am and then go to my first class

so he said i could use all the machines in the shop they have a bore machine hot tank a resurfacing machine for heads, and engines i think

the machinist looked at my problem cylinder and saw it was deep to the point where it needed to be sleeved but he said even before you sleeve it inspect the block for an cracks because if there are cracks you just wasted 100 dollars on a sleeve

It LOOKS like a normal block to me but that really doesn't say anything. Do what your teacher recommends and check the block for cracks. Do you maganaflux?

That seems like a decent engine. Make sure you magnaflux it. You could also use Zyglo to check for cracks. You want to check head surfaces and near the main journals.
