points to hei

I bought a hei distributer...Does i use the hot wire that was going to the coil on the hei distributer.

Usually the hot wire to the coil has only about 8 volts and u gonna need 12 volts for the hei but u can always mesure the wire that u already have with a voltmeter.

Ok thtas what i was thinkin..Where else could i get the 12 volts from,,any ideas

could the ballast be removed to get the 12 volts,,If so where on the wire harness is it?

i think there is an ignition power terminal at the fuse box. you can run it from there to the distributor. the factory never uses a resistor that can be removed that i know of. the only ones i seen were a resistor wire. the entire wire made resistance so it could not be used for the HEI.

in the fuse block, to the right of the stop fuse is a tap labeled IGN. if you feel the need to fuse, you can inline fuse it.

vehicles with factory HEI have a 12ga wire for power, I'd use a 30A

I thought '73 and newer used "HEI" dist. I have never seen a '73 without an "HEI".

the High Engery Ignition was available in limited models in 73, RPO K86, was standard across all lines in 75.
