Large Guide plate holes

I am using 3/8 x 5/16" studs for my PRW Roller Rockers which require guide plates and I will be ordering hardened 5/16 push rods once I determine the correct length required. My question is the guide plate holes are larger than the 5/16" stud diameter. I am assuming this is to allow adjustment for the push rod guide plate positioning alignment. I'm also assuming once the studs are torqued into the head on top of the guide plates they will remain stationary. They are Comp cam 4842 (Olds 5/16") model guide plates. Are my assumptions correct or do I have the wrong guide plates?

Thanks,
Randy
