Is this an OEM thermostatic vacuum switch for 1968 - 1970 455 cid Oldsmobiles?

I would guess that yours is indeed OEM, the one at summit and other places I've looked all have a plastic vacuum housing connected to a metal base. One these guys probably has a part list for this ....... *hopes*

I love the color of your car btw, do you know the name of it?

I am no emission control accoutrement expert, but I'd bet that "73" is the year of manufacture.

Nice pics, John. The one I have is also made by Dole. Looks as if your switch was a replacement if indeed the "70" represents year of manufacture of the part. Mine is NOS so it could still be correct for a '68-'70 car.

The only advice I can offer is that I know it's not from a '71-'72 car...

It makes sense that it could be a date, but I'm not positive of that. This came from the hacked up 1968 in the photo below. Story was it had low miles on it, got wrecked and sat for decades with buzzards picking from the carcass. The bronze paint on this makes me think its original, but that's just a gut feeling. I have no way to say for sure it is. I agree that yours has enough of the same details that these are probably both OEM parts. John
