Mondellos '70 442 Vista Cruiser

I took a tour of Joe Mondellos tech center with my local Olds club.
Joe has a "1 of 2" W-30 442 Vista Cruiser there and thought I'd share some pics.
The pics aren't the greatest due to the car being in Joes garage. Sorry.

Wow!

Are those Christmas decorations sitting on the shelf Oldsmobile factory prototypes too?

Thanks for posting the pics.
The car is really cool, no Vista cruiser control though?.

I wonder if he's going to put it up for auction again?

As Joe P. said, it's a phantom and a one-of-none.

I just learned recently that you could special order the OAI hood for the wagons in '72. That would be about as close as you could get to a 442 Vista Cruiser in looks from the factory. The '70 and '72 Indy Vistas even have more but they didn't roll off the end of the line like that.
I'll take any of them, I'd trade mine for an original beater pace wagon in a minute.

The member 442mulch is supposed to have a '70 pace wagon, never heard anything back from him after he posted in the thread on them? I'd like to see some pics of his car liked 2blu asked about back then too, I've never seen a pic of one other than in the press photos.

As the sign says, "One of two PROTOTYPES". This is not a car that could ever have been ordered in a showroom. As I noted in the other thread, Olds built several hi-pert wagons for magazine consumption in the 60s and early 70s. They were unavailable to mere mortals. More to the point, why is a VC with a Modello-swapped motor worth more than one with a swap done in one of our garages?

A few things I noticed. The third hood bumper specific to OAI hoods is not there? It looks like it has the extra bolts in the radiator cover for the optional engine oil cooler. The Vista specific firewall to radiator support bars are not there, probably due to the OAI hood pin boxes. I ran into a similar issue when I put the OAI set up on my vista. The hood pin boxes & support bars use the same holes so one of them had to go. Not putting down the car, just a few things I noticed, I'd trade my junk for it anytime.
