Ebay 1970 Olds 442 for sale

Nice looking 442. Does not sound like the car dealer is trying to misrepresent the car which surprises me. Some guys with more knowledge then me about 1970 Olds will chime in with information

Well, the BIGGEST thing wrong with it is the (no)Flowmaster mufflers...
And to continue my rant, I present this photo (at least it's not COMPLETELY upside down):
However, this is the photo that got me. For 20 points, what's wrong here?

I'm guessing that the breather hose should be going to the carb not the air cleaner oh never ind it is an OAI set up so I think that's right - how about the hose from the waterpump, that looks a bit odd

Shouldn't the upper radiator hose have a strap around it and then attached to the fan shroud? Maybe the routing of the alternator wiring. Dipstick Painted Blue? I'm guessing. I agree on the ground cable being attached in the wrong place.

Ok, I'm going to jump in here and show my ignorance as well. I don't believe the air cleaner is correct. I don't have any proof, just it doesn't look right to me. I thought the PCV valve was on the drivers side. I don't know.
I do, however, like the zip tie holding what looks like the p.s. hoses together.

I own a 70....
No side stripes
Missing rear trim
Wrong steering wheel
Wrong brake pedal pad
No gauges
Missing heat riser pipe
Wrong oil fill tube
Negative cable attached wrong
A/C relay not hooked up
Only after a 2 minute look.
The paint looks "thick".
I would stay away from that car.

OK, I'll try adding a couple things.
The positive battery cable should go through a fiber tube that's missing.
The oil fill tube looks like a 1968 AC car with the bent forward shape.
The air cleaner also has the heat riser tube location like a 1968 or maybe 69.
Yeah, that negative battery cable location is just plain wrong for any year!
One valve cover should have a pvc valve, the other a breather filter.
In 1970 the W27 rear pumpkin was all aluminum, not just the cover.
Now that I've said what I see as incorrect let me say it's a sharp looking car! But for the price I would want to make sure how much is original and would hope to be able to finish restoring it to as original as possible. John
Went back and looked at your selected pictures Joe, the HORN button should have the rocket pointing straight up and the spokes should also be at more of 10:00, 2:00 and 6:00 on a clock when the car is driving straight down the road. BUT this looks like an aftermarket wheel not the factory 4 spoke used in 1970.

What I see wrong in the the second picture would be the alternator. It's clocked wrong one way or the other, but it looks like it may not be internally regulated.
As evidanced by this picture. Have a close look at the firewall.

The $16,000 price tag on a car that looks THAT NICE!!!!!
Really, the Olds just don't bring in the $$$ like the Chevelle's do.
Sad truth.....very bad return on investment there....
My car must be worth $10,000 only if that car is $16,000.
That's very discouraging actually.

The price on the ebay listing is not the price but just a "bid" which has not met the reserve price as mentioned in Blue under the Bid. Who knows what the seller wants for the car. As far as we know he could be looking for 30000

They show a nice shot of the front fender & bumper, that's all out of whack,& then they say "great panel fit". What panel are they referring to?
Those seats are about to explode. It's obvious someone doesn't know how to upholster seats. There is waaayy too much foam in there. It is supposed to be trimmed. The buttons will start poppingmthen the rest will go to hell. The rear 1/4 trunk trims are missing, possibly because there are no holes to mount them now,due to panel replacement,or too much filler. If the car really only had 28,000 miles,it would be a lot nicer, and would not have needed such an extensive restoration, with incorrect parts installed. It is possible that it never came with guages, but it would have been a plus to have them. There is an external regulator on the firewall, with a spliced wire coming from it,so someone didn't understand how to wire the charging system,or they didn't realize that the regulator should be inside the alternator. No striping, incorrect wheel, and other items already mentioned.Cars like this look more like a nice clone.

I was going for the fact that it sure looks like a 1968 air cleaner and breather pipe. A 1970 should have the black metal breather that fits in the valve cover and the shorter single bend tube that fits into a rubber elbow on the air cleaner. It appears, however, that the auction must have been taken down because all the photo links are broken.
Edit: Wait! Now they're back. Must be a "feature" from Microsoft or something...
