1979 Cutlass Supreme Brougham (Y-71)

This is my 1979 Cutlass Supreme Brougham I bought last around March of 2016. It is a 1 family owned car that had 49,xxx miles on it when I got it. Documentation shows about 2,000 miles were put on it in the last 20 years. I now have almost 56,000 miles. A trip to the Olds Nationals in Kingsport, TN and back helped pad those miles.

This is a true two-tone Y-71 code car. As noted, the light color (silver #15) is on the hood, roof, back of trunk lid and the dark color (black #19) is on the sides. There are probably not as many of these Y-71 code cars as there are the Y-76 code which would have the top/bottom color scheme reversed. Read more ยป

This will probably be one of my favorite photos I ever take of any car. That's my elementary school (Jefferson) in the background, in Bergenfield, NJ.

This was a great time, for $50 they let us have at it for about 10 laps. Unforgettable great time, the undisputed highlight of the 2016 Nats.

Hanging fairly low on turn 4 (or perhaps turn 2). As I got used to the track I found I could get all the way up top around the turns practically flooring it. Yes, the benefits of having a 105 hp Olds 260.

Getting ready to race! Waiting for my turn at Bristol Motor Speedway. The car crossing the finish line did NOT do those doughnuts.

Progress is being made here with swapping the wire wheels for correct SS III's as well as tires that aren't 14 years old. That's also my 79 H/O and 79 Calais in the background.

This shot reveals an un-repainted trunk. With the exception of the sport mirrors, the silver on this car has been repainted.

Note the wire-wheel hucaps. They are currently "in storage".

Day 1, bringing it home. You Bay Staters may recognize that bridge in the background over the truck.
