Help! Tires rubbing on chassis

Hi I'm a newbie! I just picked up a 86 olds supreme brougham. I picked up a set of 20 inch Irocs 255/35. An the rear rubs on the chassis just hardly but it seems like the tire is too wide. An the front rubs a little bit when I'm fully locked In a turn. I need some suggestions.

Yeah, maybe you should use the right size tires.

Wheel spacers are about $30 to $70 a set on Ebay, depending on size.
Or grab a side grinder and look for the rub spot and start smoothing out.

How about you tell us what is the offset and width of the rims? Sounds like these have too much positive offset.

There is a limit to how much larger wheel/tire combo you can use. Spacers may work, but then the tires may rub the fenders. Also, be careful when the front wheels are turned and you go over a bump, like in or out of a driveway. That is when the suspension will move and the tire will likely rub and bend the top of the weelwell and fender.

The 255/35-20s that the OP is using are within a tenth of an inch of the dimensions of 255/60-15s. While I'm not personally a fan of 20" wheels, his selection actually is well thought out and makes sense for this car. I've got money on the wrong wheel offset being the problem. The tire size should NOT be a problem for this car.

I'm just surprised that someone who spent good money to put wheels on his car that are a very different size than the originals were wouldn't know their basic dimensions.
