Jetaway Transmission

Hello All!

I am getting very close to being able to swap my Jetaway for a 200r4. I am going to sell the Jetaway but I do not know what a reasonable asking price is. I looked on Ebay and their price is hovering around $350 or so, but that seems to be for the cadillac version whatever that means...

The transmission is behind a 1968 Cutlass Supreme with 106k original miles. It runs and shifts good. It's about time for it to be serviced, and I have the fluid and filter kit to service it.

While we're at it (though this may need to be asked somewhere else), I am getting ready to switch to an edelbrock 7111 and a 1406 carb and I will be selling my original equipment 2bbl rochester and intake. The carburetor has just been rebuilt and runs fine. Any idea what a fair asking price would be for that pair?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Bryon

Bryon, unfortunately there is little love for those items. Good luck.

Thanks brother. I thought someone would be interested in these from the perspective of restoring one to original condition (especially since there are so many "purists" out there, i've been told).

Let's see what happens...

+1.

I've turned down perfectly fine Jetaways for free, and I suspect you may have trouble giving away that carb and manifold as well.

If the carb is good, you may get a taker for that.

What that means is that you are confusing the 1950s transmission called the "Jetaway" with the 1964-68 ST300, also, unfortunately called the "Jetaway". You are also apparently confusing asking price with selling price.

If you search completed auctions on ebay, you'll find that in the last 30 days there has been exactly one ST300 listed (a 1969 Olds unit, ironically) that failed to sell with a Buy It Now at $250.

Here's another data point. About 15 years ago I parted out a 1967 Cutlass convertible. My asking price for the 330 motor was $100, or $75 if you also took the Jetaway trans. I ended up selling the forged crank to Chris Witt and scrapped the rest.

Okay. Thanks. Maybe the carb will sell to someone.

Unfortunately you'd probably get more money for them if you advertised 2 good used boat anchors.

Sadly, an aluminum trans doesn't even make a good boat anchor...

Back in the day, they would
build them for the quartermile.
Powerglide for Chev, and Jetaway for BOP.
That would be the only angle for the trans sale.
Old school gasser. Might get lucky and save one.

Other than both having 2 speeds, there is very little else in common between the Powerglide and the Jetaway. The Powerglide is getting hard to find anymore (especially the 1.76 gearset). Their was a time you couldnt give away Powerglides, the devolopment of high stall speed converters and transbrake valve bodies fixed that. Who knows, maybe the Jetaway might become desirable. I wouldnt count on it!
