Cable Needed on Conversion to 2004r

67 442, console shift

just put 2004r in (from TH400)

Shifter Cable (NOT THE TV cable) seems too short, and it won't pull back into the 1 position. And I believe the link at trans is 'rigged' at this point.

I've done numerous searches and am not having a lot of luck on someone that supplies a longer cable.

I was operating under the impression that the cable would be same, but should I be looking for a different cable to connect the 2004r?

Thanks,

So it will shift in every gear properly except manual low gear??

Just curious because I am considering not bothering with the shiftworks kit.
I will just keep mine in drive if it works just fine and save the $150+ if that's all I'm missing.

A th400 is a 3 speed, and the 2004r is a 4 speed, ......so wouldn't you need another shifter with an extra notch?

Cables are pretty universal, you just have to have the angles right so they don't bind going through the motions.

The issue was more on the pan bracket and the lever on the trans more than cable length. It is now OK. Thanks,
