throttle valve cable th350

It looks like my th350 trans in my 1971 cutlass has a tv cable. This cable runs from the gas pedal to the transmission. Is that possible? I thought all the th350's had a throttle cable that ran to the carb?

That's not a TV cable, it's a Detent Cable, And yes, all 350/TH350's had one in that year.

It dimly controls the downshifting, not a throttle valve like later models.
