How useful is this manifold ?

Im looking at buying a Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold for my 350 rocket, part number 5822. I was wondering what the HP gains would be, and how much one is worth in slightly used condition. thanks guys

If I was looking for a used intake, I would want to keep the price at $100-$150.

If you allready have a four barrel intake and carb, I don't think you"ll see much gain in power with this one. But..I don't know your engines upgrades. You'll save a little weight over the cast iron version though.

I know it wont work with the larger HEI ignition.

Hp gain to time and effort ratio is not very good. Not worth it unless the motor is already out of the car. If you can get it for 75 bucks and eventually use it on your next rebuild or next motor I'd say get it.

Also, a used one could be molested to match someone else's setup, and make things worse.

I put a brand new edelbrock performer on an 85 307 motor once for kicks, and it ended up making it worse because it changed the airflow spin and the motor was pretty much hyperventilating.
Think of the carb and intake like opening windows in a house. If 2 are opened on opposite walls, you get a nice airflow through the house. If you put a window in a broom closet, the door will probably just rattle. Even if it is a nice new shiny window.

haha

Lol yes, the engine is already out of the car, im boring it as we speak, im looking to get a new intake either this one, or a performer rpm, because im building a higher midrange street car. it was originally a 2barrel engine, but its all original out of my 69 cutlass, and it has #5 heads. so this intake vs the performer rpm, which would be better i guess ?

I went the performer rout and add a 4 barrel carb to go with it and I can feel the difference. It feels good flying down the Auto strata at 100+ pumping the gas and being able to feel the power waiting to be released. Yeah I would say it is worth the money to get the performer rpm mani.

Performer rpm is better.

Do you want 2 barrel carb and mani?
