Choke coil

I am finishing up a 69 Cutlass 350, and I am having trouble finding a choke bi-metalic coil for the qjet. The manifold well for the coil is only 1/2 in deep and all of the coils I have found are 1 in deep.

Suggestions appreciated.

Goodness, but those have gotten pricey.

The one for sale is the same new one that I have (it projects 1"). I need a GM application where the coil assy only sticks out 1/2" from the level of the mounting hole.

What this may mean is that my manifold, although GM, is from another division. Oh joy.

Thanks for the answer.

If the manifold from another division, then it won't fit. Unless the entire engine is from another division...

Quick update. I cut the top off the new thermostatic coil housing I had, shortened the coil mounting legs by 1/2", added a 1/4" piece at the top of the housing that I cut off and welded everything back together. Looks terrible, but gives a good pull when cold and fits in the mount on the manifold (the 1/2" deep well. Will continue to look to find a coil that fits properly, but this will work fine for a while.

Still trying to figure out where the intake manifold came from. This is the second mod I have had to do to "bolt on components" to fit, the first being the vacuum controlled hot water fitting on the rear of the manifold. The tapped hole on the manifold was too small for the valve fitting and I had to come up with an adapter.

I love this stuff!

We'd still like photos to be able to see exactly what you've got there.

Choke thermostat

First pic is of the manifold, second is the coil. Works good.

The carb is a 1985 chevy qjet being replaced by a 7029251.

Comments welcome

Looks like an Olds motor, but that choke coil well does look awful shallow to me.
