Webmaster

How do I contact the Webmaster on this website? I would like to forward a message I rec'd from someone that I don't think is a member. Think was a scam and almost fell for it. I have sent a message via one of your methods but it is not working. Did not receive a reply.
I would lke to think this site is a little better than that. Please make it a little easy to contact the webmaster if problems arise!! I would just like to forward the message I received and send it to the webmaster but there does not seem to be a way to do that. Especially when the webmaster does not publish an email address etc.

Eric one of the problems is that I do not understand really how to use your website or get around in it. I did receive a message from a person named Tucker 408 regarding a right front doorlock assy I am looking for. He said he had one for $125.00. But then I heard no more from him. And I think I see where he is perhaps banned and not a member. You asked to send you his message. I do not know how to do that.
What is Quick Reply and how does it differ from a regular return message? I think you wanted me to include his message as an attachment but I don't know how to do that. Sorry. I am not too computer savvy.

On the top of all private messages there is a red triangle with an exclamation point in the center that you can click on to report any message, just as there are to the right of all forum postings. The quick reply is there to post in a forum without going into the advanced process which has some additional features for posting.

Yes Tucker 408 was banned this morning, I've banned 6 new members since 11/22. All members should be aware of any unsolicited pm's with messages that are overly formal in their wording.

On my forum screen, the 'report' icon is on the left of the screen...?

I was also looking for an icon on the right aside in addition to the normal one on the left. Good call.

Although, as designed, the icon is ported to the "member user" who created the "post". Therefore, it doesn't EXACTLY fit the OP's issue here since the purported user did not create a post and evidently is not a CO member.

Can you tell me why Tucker 408 was banned? I am wondering if he really does have a door lock assy for my '48 Olds. Do you think he really does have the part or is he not a regular member and might be just trying to fleece me?

Nigeria was, has always been & remains the world's top scamming country. You can find reports such as this (below) anywhere on the World Wide Web.

True, true. You do a great job on staying on top of it as best you can. Nothing more than a true PITA to deal with this activity.

Well I can only say good catch then. Did not realize that just anyone can post on your website. I thought only members could post. If this is not true, I am wondering why you allow non-members to post as this kind of negates all the security you might have on your site.

Post #6 Eric stated the person was banned this morning. I did a search and Tucker 408 doesn't show up (anywhere). Eric may have deleted the account entirely as opposed to banning the member.
You must be a member in order to post to the site. As far as I can tell (up to this point), I don't recall you stating he created an actual post on this site. IIRC, you stated you received a message from the person. There's a difference in creating a post (under the member's name) and getting a message from the member. Sometimes scammers/phishers will create an account, NEVER create a POST or a THREAD, but since they have an account, they can immediately begin to send a PM (Private Message) to another member. This may be what happened in your case. Tucker 408 never created a POST or a THREAD, but instead sent you a PM?

EDIT: Eric may very well have banned the user, but since they never created a POST or a THREAD, they won't show up ANYWHERE as having been banned, since they never created a POST or a THREAD. I hope that didn't muddy the water (too much).

BTW, Eric may not have caught Tucker 408 w/o your assistance; so, it was a benefit to the CO members you created a thread and reached out to someone. Thanks for that!
These turds with no scruples are a PITA.

If you still have the pm from Tucker 408, you can click on his name and look at his profile page. There it will show you he has been banned. Just note, there were other members that reported him also.

Yes I know, and there was a little confusion between him and this other fake seller for just a bit. But when I was aware of what happened I again tried to contact deaddds about payment. I agreed to his price but he cannot send until he gets paid.
And I cannot pay him unless I have his address and he provides an agreeable method to pay him. I at present still do not have his address. I sent him a message regarding sending a check but have not rec'd as yet a reply. We are having a
little trouble with communication. I could also perhaps send him the money via Paypal and his personal email address. I am not too privy to how this website works, thus feel we should circumvent using the club in any way.
Thanks for trying to be helpful. If you can aid to the completion of this transaction please help. Thank you.

It looks like your getting scammed. You don’t need the web master. You need a mod, web masters just work on the sites behind the scenes.
