How is it possible for another poster to completely edit the original posters thread? Schurkey edited my post without my authority and made it a completely different answer. Why is this possible and can it be stopped?

I thought that was a quote and not a change to the original post. It is possible to put anything in a quote.

Yes it was a quote and quotes can be edited.

Fyi the FIFY acronym means fixed it for you. Frequently used to denote that an original quote has been editted. ( and often used when humor is injected)

i dont think shurkey meant any harm, and i do think most members would not take it to be your words that were posted just above.

Whatever it was perceived to be, I do not appreciate anyone making changes to my posts. As the song said "I have an eighth grade education and a good christian raisen" I'm 76 and don't need someone putting words that I didn't say.
Also this has nothing to do with site help.
