MCR letter
I'm not sure what's going on with Diego's post, but for some reason no one can reply to it. In any case, thanks for the heads-up. Here's the letter as published. Minor edits by MCR, but nothing substantive.

On the article above, good call out on the incorrect info. We all make mistakes every once in a while, and everyone can't be an expert on every topic, but to someone reading the info being discussed prior to correction, it could have led to a purchase of something that wasn't the real deal. When things like that happen, it really is a bad deal.

That should be a big red flag on a high dollar car. Sadly, it's not uncommon, since many of these are fakes.

Off topic but since it's in the article above maybe someone can shed some light on the 68 Ram Rod production numbers referenced by Gary Johnson in the letter following Joe's.
I don't believe anyone really knows how many were produced but according to DaveH the number was much closer to 500. (and I'm guessing that's where Steve remembers the number from, not the H/O production numbers). The first 500 had special hand assembled engines built off the assembly lines. I don't know that any Supremes have ever been documented although I'd bet fewer than 20 of the remaining Ram Rods have any real paperwork anyway. It's been throw around in the past that the 700+ number referred to the number of engines produced. Many were given to factory race teams as well.

I sure wouldn't quote that book as a source for a correction.
500 to me is a classic round number for a LE car, so I wouldn't pay attention to it. But I bet there's more to the numbers than what our current info tells us, especially since Ram Rod equipment lists don't even agree with each other - perhaps a part of an evolving introduction?

F-85 W-31 "Ram Rod". I believe Olds only produced 501of them.
There were 5 or 6 more, but were standard Cutlasses built on line, but modifiedat the Olds Experimental garage ahead of the 500 car production run for testand development cars. Most notable of those 5 was the 2 tone green F85 coupe inall the magazine articles back then and also the one shown in the MotionMarkowitz ads. VERY fast car, and the one I got a chance to take around the block and resulted in my changing my first new carorder from a loaded 442 convertible to the Ramrod I still have and race in PureStock.
