Pissed n' broke

Trying to rebuild my 455 by using parts from 2 engines, one smog, one 1970 rotating assembly on the cheap. I was doing real well until I dropped my number 7 factory high compression standard size piston and broke the skirt

Anyone have a good one they're trying to give away cheap shipped to 98284?

Can you post a picture of the top of the piston? I likely have an extra or two or 20.... Just need to see the notches on the top to be sure I grab the correct one.

Eric:

BTR says if you press the pin out you'll destroy the piston. I'm no expert but if you have one with a standard bore connecting rod attached, I'd be much obliged. Here are the pics of the piston/rod assembly.

I would change an odd side piston & rod also. Anytime one presses off a rod there's a chance of damage to a 40+ year old piston. I've had it done successfully by a machine shop. You have to remember, BTR wouldn't even consider messing with this type of low dollar rebuild. Jmo.

This is the best extra I have. the rings spin free and I believe the rod is on correct for a #7. This one is stamped #1 so I assume it is from the #1 cylinder. I was not the one to take this out of the block.

I plan to someday do the same thing you are. I have a nice used set of these pistons and a nice standard crank. I acquired an old standard size engine rebuild kit for a 455 in my former "barn find" and plan to have a block cleaned and new cam bearings installed and toss it together someday. I will not have much of anything in it, just something to play with.

Looks pretty decent. Thanks again Eric you are a saviour of a premo 73 standard bore 455 with minimal wear.

I hear ya buddy but I'm trying to make 2 decent engines out of one blown(bad) high compression and one good low compression. Everything on the blown engine is bad except the pistons and rods so I'm using those in the 73 block. The 69 block will someday be treated to a new rotating assembly and over- sized pistons via a stroker kit. That's the plan anyway.
